Nestled in the heart of Arcadia, Ho Kee Cafe is a distinguished Chinese restaurant that artfully blends the rich culinary traditions of Southern and Northern China. Located at 558 Las Tunas Dr, this vibrant eatery invites diners to embark on a flavorful journey through authentic Hong Kong-style cuisine, where every dish tells a story steeped in heritage and craftsmanship.
Ho Kee Cafe’s menu is a treasure trove for lovers of Chinese gastronomy. Signature offerings like the succulent BBQ Duck (燒鴨) and tender Dumplings Noodle Hong Kong Style showcase the kitchen’s meticulous attention to texture and savor. The Beef Stomach Soup Noodle offers a delightfully rich broth that warms both the palate and soul, while the Preserved Egg and Pork Porridge comforts with its silky smoothness and umami depth. For those seeking a balance of spice and crunch, the 幹煸四季豆 (dry-fried green beans) deliver a perfect harmony of bold flavor and texture.
Vegetarian options are equally impressive, featuring dishes such as Buddha Delights in Curry Sauce and Mapo Tofu, each crafted to elevate vegetables with nuanced spices and a robust, savory profile. Seafood lovers will appreciate the Lobster E Mein and Seafood Fried Rice, both bursting with fresh ocean flavors and vibrant wok-charred aromas.
Dining at Ho Kee Cafe is an experience as lively as its flavors. The atmosphere buzzes with the chatter of happy guests and the clink of chopsticks, creating an inviting and convivial environment perfect for family gatherings or celebrations. Despite the energetic vibe, the service stands out—friendly and efficient staff members are attentively bustling to ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for, as echoed by many visitors who highlight the team’s warmth and enthusiasm.
One cannot overlook the delectable and aromatic street-style beverages like the creamy, sweet Thai Tea, pairing perfectly with the savory mains and rounding out a truly satisfying meal. For lunch hour visitors, the reasonably priced lunch specials such as Kung Bao Chicken and BBQ Pork Cha Siu Over Rice offer a satisfying glimpse into authentic Chinese flavors without compromising value.
While some guests note the lively volume intrinsic to a bustling eatery and the richness of the duck and meats that carry a deeper, almost “beefy chicken” flavor, these characteristics only serve to deepen the dining experience, offering an adventurous palate a sense of true traditional indulgence. The portion sizes are generous, encouraging communal sharing and lingering conversations over comforting, hearty dishes.

Went there for a friend's birthday party. The restaurant is tucked a bit so if you're driving too fast you might pass it. There's plenty of free self parking in the front, to the side and in the back. The staff is very energetic and busy. They're welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has nice ambience but, as expected, it's a bit loud with all the guests chatting loudly. Luckily, we got their private room which was much quieter once the doors were closed. We received the VIP treatment lol We were a group of 8 but we got the large round group of 10 table with plenty of space for all the yummy food we ordered. The menu has lots of options. Glad my friends speak Cantonese. All the food was delicious.
2nd location in the chain, and much fancier place than the first. Nothing special, but not bad. Tried their roast pork, but the meat selection was much more on the leaner side. So if you're coming with old folks with weak teeth, they might not enjoy it --if anything, the older folks prefer the fattier cuts. Also their 滑蛋 scrambled eggs had a bit too much flour, and came out harder, not as soft and fluffy like other places. Nice folks at least! Service was on point, and staff was very approachable. Old man moment, many owners and several iterations before this place, it was a Liang's Kitchen (c. 2013).
This is 100th anniversary of Kam Yen Jan celebration and their legacy of crafting authentic Lap Cheong (lạp xưởng - Chinese sausages) and preserved meats. The event brings a perfect product tasting experience to me and the other foodies. Had Lap Cheong since I was a kid. Love their products! Menu of the event: 1. Ho Kee deluxe platter 2. Chinese broccoli with cured meat 3. Deluxe prawn 4. Crab meat & fish maw soup 5. Sizzling chicken casserole with Chinese sausage 6. Sauteed beef with snap peas 7. Minced duck meat served with lettuce wraps 8. Baked lobster with ginger and scallion 9. Claypot rice with assorted sausages
This is a Chinese-style restaurant. There are dishes with the taste of southern China, such as roast duck, Cantonese dishes, etc. various soups in Guangdong. In addition, there are also northern dishes, such as roast duck in Beijing. There are many kinds of dishes here, including grass and soup. All kinds of barbecue can be found in many places in the store at that time, and there are many private rooms that look very comfortable. In addition, the types of takeaways are also very rich. I often order takeaways here.
Service friendly, food prices add up, make sure to come with a group. Hella leftovers afterward. No desserts. Mall tofu = we also got pineapple fried rice and duck. We ordered a side of rice and it was huge . Unfortunately afterwards, we decimated SpongeBobs house. The duck tasted like a beefy chicken. It was richer and heavier, but delicious.
Second location of the very popular Hong Kong style Cantonese cafe is now opened in Arcadia. This location is slightly bigger than the SG location but got a few private rooms set up for private parties. Some rooms come equipped with premium sound system for some karaoke sesh. Over the weekend, friends and I got one of those room, great food and a great time! Very surprised the room was superbly soundproofed! Also the table inside that room could seat 14 adults comfortably. Menu is essentially the same as the SG location. Many off menu dishes are available too. Some seafood or delicacies may require advance reservation. We had roasted squabs, roasted duck (of course, I still think Ho Kee’s roasted duck is best in LA. They only do a few ducks at a time and continue to roast more through out the day to ensure your duck never sit out for too long. I also love their seasonal seafood (market price & supplies limited, check first). Love the giant prawns! We tried the boiled cod in a mildly peppery sauce, tasty & not fiery like Szechuan cousin. There was also lobster in different styles of cooking. The orange pork chop was simple and yummy! Not as oily as the far cousin Panda’s ;) & much tastier. Had some offals too. Really liked their braised tripes with turnips, and a cold appetizers with thinly julienned beef stomach with cucumber, green onion, & bell pepper. Steamed oysters were yummy according to my friends (I only eat raw oysters :)) oh almost forget, foie gras chow e mein! So good! & the crispy pork belly stir-fries with a type of romanesco broccoli... just talking about this made me crave for some now! This place just makes me feel like home. One could order simple tasty noodles dishes & simple family style Cantonese food for 1 or a few. One could also host a fancy banquet dinner with ordering fancy seafood dishes and rare Cantonese delicacies. Love this place! Side note, their water system is entirely filtered. No worries about funky tap water. I highly recommended this restaurant. Even tho their name is a cafe, they offer so many culinary lost art in Cantonese delicacies that one could totally host a banquet there fit for an emperor. Gotta ask the ahead what could be available though. Reservation is recommended for peak hours.
Food is good, service is fast. The lunch special menu is priced well at $15 and has large portions and good variety of selections. Other menu items are pretty pricey. Tables are too close for my liking but if you're used to that culture of dining then its a normal thing.
